The Georgia Department of Public Health is the lead agency entrusted by the people of the state of Georgia with the ultimate responsibility for the health of communities and the entire population.

The agency is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Communicable Disease Specialist within the North Health District in Gainesville, GA.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general supervision, gathers, analyzes and monitors data regarding communicable diseases within a health district. Ensures implementation of timely disease intervention strategies to decrease the prevalence of such diseases.

Conduct timely disease intervention functions to control and prevent STDs.
Provide STD/HIV education to patients, their partners, clinicians and other community members. Counsel patients on their diagnosis and potential treatment options.
Conduct patient interviews to elicit partners and other epidemiological data.
Perform investigations to gather information using an array of resources.
Coordinate testing and treatment for infected and affected individuals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND Six months of related experience
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college AND Two years of experience in a related area
OR
Four years of experience in a medical related field
OR
Licensure as a registered nurse AND One year of nursing experience
OR
One year of experience at the lower level (HCP080) position equivalent.
